The Grand Canyon Historical Society sponsored the 6th Grand Canyon History Symposium from
November 1 to 4, 2023 at the South Rim, Grand Canyon National Park.
Background
Since January 2002, there have been five previous Grand Canyon History Symposia, bringing together historians, witnesses to history, park employees, and others with a passion for Grand Canyon history. The presentations from each symposium were assembled into a collection of essays called Proceedings. It is the Grand Canyon Historical Society’s intent to publish the Proceedings from this symposium as it has in the past. Also, we will record each presentation at the symposium for future viewing on Vimeo. Watch this page for updates.
6th History Symposium Theme:
Grand Canyon Focus on People Who Have Made a Difference
The 2023 Symposium had 26, presentations focused on people who have impacted Grand Canyon history in a multitude of ways. Presentations concerning the history of the greater Grand Canyon region and its adjacent areas - the Kaibab and Coconino plateaus, Lees Ferry area, southern Utah and other Southwest and Colorado Plateau topics were covered. The dates of the 2023 History Symposium was
November 2 through November 4th.
Below you can see the schedule of events, which will also be included in the Proceedings once published. The link to the actual presentation videos from the Symposium is given at the top.
